❤ Excerpt ❤

Waking up every morning to Blain and his skillful, mind-blowing kisses definitely made starting the day easier. Those lips of his had a way of making me forget the outside world. His clean cotton and fresh-out-of-the-shower scent clung to him like static, and I couldn’t get enough. The feeling of comfort and safety while wrapped in his arms enveloped me, and the terrible images that startled me awake earlier faded away.

Melia being a Rogue and nearly killing me was frightening. But seeing the black orb attack Blain was a whole new level of terrifying. He seemed okay, though. God, I hoped he was okay.

Blain inched back, definitely far enough to see redness spread across my face, and grinned. His stare, the desire and need held there, made my pulse race. “God, you’re beautiful,” he said, stroking a thumb across my cheek.

His tender touch burned through me. The familiar buzz danced along my skin, and the colors from our power–white and gold– followed the sweet caress.

“This is my favorite part, the pink across your cheeks and knowing I put it there.”

I smiled. “Mine is definitely your lips.”

In turn, they kicked up in a sinful smile. The single butterfly in my stomach multiplied into a swarm. The clear blue in his eyes darkened, and he brought his mouth over mine.

Blain’s kiss started nice and slow. His hand slid down my side, finding the edge of my shirt, along with a bundle of feelings I shouldn’t be exploring just yet.
My heart thudded in a staccato-style rhythm. More heat rushed over my skin like a furnace.

I didn’t want to stop. Didn’t want to think about what Melia’s next move may be. Silently, I wished that her army of Rogues, and all the other obstacles in our way, would disappear.

We’d almost lost each other during the near-fatal fight with Melia. Death gave a person a sense of perspective, and living in the moment, with Blain, was the only place I wanted to be.

“Stop worrying,” Blain said against my lips, then pulled away. “Right now is about me making up for being a jerk, and for not doing more of this sooner.”

I wanted to let it go. So bad, but the spinning wheel of thoughts in my brain refused to slow down. “What if Melia sends her Rogues after us? We should probably get a few workouts in, so I’m better prepared.” A spike of terror tugged at my insides.

“You’re right, we need to get you better prepared. But first I need to do a full body inspection. Make sure all your parts are workable,” he said, pressing his lower half into me.

Before I could reply, he skimmed his tongue across my lower lip, dissolving whatever smartass comment was about to come out.

I granted him access, and the worry of Melia’s attack faded. A clear image of Blain filtered in–the sexy, lone-dimpled grin he’d given me over a dozen times. Private moments between us were few. Losing myself with Blain… his touch, his lips, his everything, turned my bones to mush.

If only the bliss could’ve lasted longer.

The somber memory of yesterday, Blain’s life nearly lost, all still too real. The awareness created an empty pit in my stomach. Within seconds, the daydreamed effects of us together and safe shattered.

My body stiffened. Thank goodness Morpheus barged in before Blain caught on that something was wrong.

“Knock, knock.”

Blain’s wandering hand on my stomach froze, and his lips stopped moving. Resting his forehead against mine, a growling sound deep in his throat emerged. “I should’ve let you take him out,” he said, frustrated.

I smiled. Regardless of what was going on, knowing the effect I had over Blain kinda rocked. Strike that, it totally kicked ass.

Blain sighed. “Please tell me the reason you’re in my room is because you’ve found Melia and destroyed her. I’d really like to get back to spending time with my girlfriend.”

❤ Tristan Quotes/Teasers ❤

“I’d like to say I love you and mean it. Only, that isn’t enough to describe what I feel for you… how much you mean to me, Elle.”

“Water’s boring.” Elle traced a finger along my jaw, her passion-filled eyes trained on my lips. “I’m not looking for boring tonight.”

The anticipation of wanting her jumped to fucking needing her as she rolled her hips into the pressure against my zipper. “What is it you’re looking for?”

Elle bent forward, lips teasing mine, and whispered, “You.”

❤ Elle Quotes/Teasers ❤

“I didn’t think I could fall more in love with you, but you’ve proven me wrong, Tristan Wade Daniels. I love you.”

His lips curved into a wide smile. “Say it again.”

I stepped on my tiptoes and leaned in, my lips a breath away from touching his. I whispered, “I love the way my body craves more of you. I love the way your hands feel while touching me. I love the way your lips taste…”

My eyes darted to his lips, and then back to his eyes.

“I love how much you care. I don’t just love you, but everything about you. I always have, Tristan. I always will.”

He looked up and our gazes met. He was a beautiful mess, and I loved him so much, but the pain he created… well, I didn’t think I’d recover.

6c3a6-newexcerpt

We didn’t talk much during the drive back to our hometown, but words weren’t necessary. The soft smile on Tristan’s face as he drove with his left hand while holding mine in his right screamed louder than any words ever could. He was mine.
Turning to watch the scenery pass by, I let my thoughts drift back to the start of this year. At the beginning of the semester when Tristan told me about his engagement to Kellie, the psycho, I couldn’t breathe from the disappointment crushing my chest. Topping that, he also divulged he’d transferred to Tech, making sure my life remained as miserable as possible. Even though I loved him, seeing Tristan with another woman tore me to pieces.
Before their relationship ended, thinking we’d ever find our way to one another seemed impossible. So, what did I do to get over my hot, football star, best friend? I dated someone completely opposite of Tristan… Eric Green, a handsome baseball player. Eric was super sweet, but at the end of the day he was never who I wanted.
I didn’t intentionally set out to hurt anyone. The way I strung Eric along, knowing I was in love with someone else, left me feeling like a self-centered jerk. Ironically, when Tristan was injured, our relationship started to come together for us while Eric and I fell apart.
Who’d have thought a broken collarbone and a concussion would’ve made us get our heads removed from our asses. But God, the brunt trauma Tristan suffered was bad. Just thinking about it brought tears to my eyes. I shifted in my seat, removing myself from the past, looking forward to our future.
Peeking over at Tristan’s profile, my chest tightened. The fact that he was able to pull off looking so incredibly sexy that early in the morning awed me. The gritty stubble shadowing his strong jawline and the way strands of hair framed his warm eyes quickened my pulse.
Tristan glanced my way and grinned. Lifting our hands, he brushed a feathery kiss across my skin. “What’s got you so quiet, Spud?”
My knuckles tingled where his lips touched. “Oh, you.”
His smile deepened. “Well, then carry on.”
I fought to keep my eyes open during the rest of our drive. Tristan ran his finger along my cheek, the enamored glint in his eyes made my insides jump.
“You look tired. Get some sleep.” Those perfect, full, kissable lips formed into a sexy, hell-bent grin. “You’re going to need plenty of rest.”
He tore his eyes away from me and back to the road. Sliding the back of his hand down my arm, he then laced our fingers together. “We’re leaving after dinner tomorrow. We haven’t finished making up for,” he turned back to me and winked, “lost time yet.” Tristan squeezed our hands, sending the normal thumping inside my chest into hyper-drive.
I stretched out the soreness from my arms and legs. After the early morning surprise in bed, we woke up and finished another round of lovemaking in the shower. Years of listening to Alyssa prattle on and on about her sexual escapades, I finally understood her, um, enthusiasm. Speaking of which, she was going to flip the next time I talked to her. Man, I missed our late night, or morning talks, although being with Tristan felt right. Perfect.
Tension pulled at the corners of his eyes.
I squeezed his hand. “Hey, what’s wrong?” I balled my other hand, worry settling in my shoulders.
He brought our joined hands to his lips and kissed the inside of my wrist. “Nothing you need to worry about.”
Um, I don’t think so. I attempted to free my hand from his, but his hold remained strong. I gave up. “I can take it, whatever it is. Just spit it out.” My stomached knotted, betraying the lie.
“I’m telling my parents about us.” He glanced down, and the tension cornering his eyes moments ago fell. The side of his mouth pulled up in a cocky grin. “I’m almost hoping my dad kicks me out.” He winked. “Then I’d have an excuse to stay with you.”
I frowned and pulled my bottom lip between my teeth. Shit. His dad hated me. As much as I loved Tristan, I didn’t want to be an added cause to their problems, especially since Tristan and his dad never got along in the first place.
I shook my head. “No, I don’t want to ruin this. We’re together so there’s no use in creating a potential problem between you and your family. I love you, Tristan. I’m not going anywhere. Spend time with your parents and we can tell them about us once we’re back at school.”
Tristan gazed ahead, concentrating on the road in front of us. He remained silent for quite a few minutes, making me worry my bottom lip even more. Finally, he glanced over at me.
“No, I’ve waited to tell them you were mine for years now. No way am I going to pass up the first chance I get in order to make my dad happy.”
I opened my mouth to argue, but he cut me off.
“I’m not playin’, Spud.” His eyes darkened and wrinkles crested his forehead.
Stubborn ass. “All right, fine. I’ll leave my window unlocked,” I grinned, raising a brow, “but only if you’re lucky.”
Tristan chuckled softly, resting our hands in his lap. With his attention back to the road, I closed my eyes and prayed nothing terrible would happen between him and his dad. I used to think Mrs. Daniels didn’t approve of me, but after Tristan’s stay in the hospital, her behavior had changed. She’d been nice. Maybe his dad would do the same.
My throat dried–this time from not knowing if I’d be able to see my sister, Heather, this year. Hopefully this Christmas would be different for both our families. Tristan and I were due for a little peace.
Losing the battle with my eyes, I ended up falling asleep the rest of our way home. Tristan reluctantly dropped me off at my mom’s house. Once my bags were unloaded in my room, he kissed me. His kiss lingered, making my legs weak and my heart ache when the sweet embrace ended. Intensity and heat blazed in his eyes when he backed away.
Clearing his throat, he said, “I’m having a hard time leaving you.”

Torn Cover Reveal with AM Wallace

Title: Torn
Author: A.M. Wallace
Genre: New Adult
Release Date: Feb. 18, 2015
Hosted by: Lady Amber’s Tours

Blurb:
Marcus has his life pretty much figured out at twenty five years old. He’s got his career on track, a nice house just outside of the city, and his lifelong best friend, Hannah, by his side at every turn. The only problem is that he has been fighting with himself to tell Hannah how he really feels. How she’s all he’s been able to think about since he was old enough to have those feelings. What he doesn’t know is that Hannah is facing the same inner battle with herself about him. She fantasizes about a life with Marcus. Will Marcus or Hannah be able to tell each other how they feel about one another? Will they be able to make a life together or does fate have other plans?

A.M. Wallace was born and raised in southern Ohio. She is currently a stay at home mom to her wonderful son. She and her husband still reside in southern Ohio after a few years of living in east Tennessee (Go Vols!) While her husband is a die-hard Volunteer, A.M will always be a Buckeye. (O-H-I-O!) Thankfully the two teams almost never play one another.

Her love for reading started at a very young age. The Boxcar Children was where it all started, and she never quit. AR Reading in school only pushed her that much harder to read faster and more advanced books. Her competitiveness came out when there were prizes and “winning” involved. Now, she reads anything and everything in her free time. (When she has free time.)

After being a stay at home mom for seven months, needing a change that would allow her to continue staying home with her son, she finally decided to pursue her dreams and write her first novel. While watching reruns of The Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Handy Manny, and Doc McStuffins in her living room with her seven month old rolling around, the idea behind The Divided Series was born.

Excerpt:

At work, though, the people are real. Both the customers and the staff. During the busy times, we get more douchebags, mostly my classmates who probably should be in the library and not eating a hangover away. Mal is also on this morning. He’s a recovering alcoholic, a total asshole to nearly everyone, and an incredibly shitty employee in a lot of ways. But the dude can cook and when I walk in a couple minutes late with no explanation, Mal just shrugs and hands me an order.

“Big parties last night?”

“Huge party. I spent the night reading Dostoevsky.”

“He a scientist?” Mal flips over the largest slab of ham I have ever seen. For all the sort of dive element of this place, the food is still fucking great.

“Yeah, something like that.”

“Eh. Never cared for all that mumbo jumbo. Don’t know any of it and I’m doing just fine.”

That’s something else I admire about Mal. By no one’s standards is he doing just fine. He has a tendency to fall off the wagon as soon as he approaches his ten month anniversary – which he has been doing for likely longer than I have been alive. He’s been married and divorced five times. He has three kids who don’t speak to him. Finally, he only eats the food from the café and he lives in a motel out by the prison. Oh – and he works as a short order cook in a shitty café. But in his mind, life is just fine. Sometimes, I think I need to get a hold of whatever it is that keeps him from losing his shit.

We settle into our routine, since there is little Mal and I can talk about. I can’t discuss Raskolnikov’s character traits and Mal simply has nothing to say. So we cook in silence, but it’s comfortable. After everything I have been through, I feel a strange affinity for this place. Even thinking about leaving when I eventually get the hell out of town makes me a little sad. I hate that it makes me sad. I want to leave with no connections, with no strings.

I go to stick an order on the counter for Liz when I see her. Strawberries. She’s with some dude, who is basically what I pictured when she mentioned her boyfriend. Broad, tan, blond, and eating like a fucking pig. I don’t know what they’re talking about and I can’t see her face, but he loves her. It’s immediately recognizable and I hate him for it. I don’t even know why I hate him for it, since at least maybe he’s not as much of a dick as I would have expected. If we had been placing bets, I would have gone with the safe assumption he had something else on the side to make up for having such a sweet and pure girlfriend. I wonder if maybe she isn’t as innocent as she looks. The thought makes me horny again. I don’t get what is so damn attractive about this typical girl, but something makes me want to taste every inch of her skin.

Interview with Sarah:

  • What inspired you to write your book?

I had written a short story about Derek and Lily and their first time called “Her Brother’s Best Friend.” It was just supposed to be a short erotic story. But it sold well, so I thought about writing more about the two of them. However, as I started writing Forget Me Not, the story would not work for me. Until I found Jack. And then the novel was over and there was just so much more to his story, so Lily of the Valley was born.

  • How did you come up with the title?

Forget Me Not and Lily of the Valley are both flowers, and the series is called Flowering. The reason is that it is about love, sexuality, and growing up – sort of blossoming into the person you will be. Forget Me Not also addresses the idea of leaving your life behind and moving on. And Lily is the main female character, so hence Lily of the Valley.

  • Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?

People are complicated, as are relationships. The things we think we want sometimes turn out not to be what we want. In addition, the people we think we understand may surprise us. We can’t assume anything about love or each other. They are too complex.

  • What books have most influenced your life most?

The Catcher in the Rye, because it was the first time I understood that other people felt like me and it also said it was okay to be different. And The Sun Also Rises, because there can be beauty in suffering.

  • If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?

Hemingway. I know he’s dead, but he knew how to write true.

  • What are your current projects?

I am writing Scandal, a contemporary romance about a teacher and an actor who find each other after they are both ruined by rumors, and I am waiting to release Bitter Fruits, a New Adult paranormal/urban fantasy romance in December through the publisher. I am also working on Immortal Star, the second book in that series.

  • What was the hardest part of writing your book?

Jack’s experiences and emotions are really closely tied to my own and it was hard to write some of his scenes.

  • If Hollywood made a movie about your life, whom would you like to see play the lead role as you?

Aubrey Plaza. She has the same type of biting sarcasm that I do.

  • If you had six months with no obligations or financial constraints, what would you do with the time?

Travel the world and write.

  • What kind of people do you dislike?

Anyone who is cruel to other people or creatures. People who assume their own reality is the only reality. And people who don’t read.
